Retainer (Orthodontic)

A dental appliance that retains the teeth after an orthodontic treatment. Typically, growing adolescents wear retainers after their braces have been removed so that the shape of their smile is maintained. However, since more adults are wearing braces, it is becoming a common orthodontic treatment for both younger and older patients. Retainers are also used to close gaps in the teeth and improve speech. An Orthodontic Retainer can also help cure the symptoms experienced from malocclusion (a misaligned or "bad" bite).
