Receded Gums

Abnormal or excessive loss of gum tissue due to Periodontal Disease. This disease affects gum tissue and in the worst case, can even cause bone deterioration. Gums start to recede when Gingivitis advances to the point of tissue loss and will start to take on the form of Periodontitis (which occurs when bacteria seeps below the tooth into the roots). It is important to treat Receded Gums immediately as the gums act as a support structure for the tooth. With enough rececession, teeth will can eventually fall out. The most common way of treating Receded Gums is through Free Soft Tissue Graft, a type of Cosmetic Gum Grafting.
