Gum Disease

Refers to an infection of the gum tissue caused by bacteria that ravages your gums where the gum and tooth meet. As a result, gums look red, puffy and will often bleed. In the severe circumstances, the infection causes bone degradation, which can eventually cause tooth loss. Common treatments include a deep cleaning performed by a dentist or dental hygienist. In severe cases, Gingivectomy must be peformed to excise the infected tissue.
