Deciduous Dentition

There are many different terms to describe Deciduous Dentition including: primary, baby, lacteal, and milk dentition. Loss of the primary or deciduous dentition usually occurs between 5 to 7 years of age, although some children experience tooth loss earlier. It should be noted that children who lose their teeth at a young age (older than 2 and younger than 5) are at a greater risk for periodontal and gum disease.
